The outgoing Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ahmed Audi, said on Friday that the Corps arrested 4,677 suspected economic saboteurs and generated over ₦4.4 billion in revenue during his five-year tenure.
He made the disclosure during his pull-out ceremony in Abuja, presenting a detailed account of the Corps’ activities from March 2021 to date.
Audi stated that the Corps destroyed 283 illegal refineries, prosecuted 2,039 cases, and secured 638 convictions over the period. He added that the ₦4,476,237,986 generated was paid directly into the Consolidated Revenue Fund.
Regarding Private Guard Companies, Audi said 376 new firms were registered, 893 are awaiting licences, 3,869 licences were renewed, 443 companies were sealed for failing operational requirements, and 241 were reopened after compliance.
He also noted that 467 stakeholders’ meetings were held nationwide, 15,157 guards were trained, 52 complaints were handled, and ₦3.3 million was recovered for complainants.

Audi highlighted the establishment of a Female Special Squad trained by the Nigerian Army, deployed to protect schools, which has reportedly thwarted 48 attempted school kidnappings nationwide.
The initiative aimed to give women the opportunity to compete effectively with their male counterparts.
He also noted that the Corps strengthened the operations of its Agro-Rangers unit to protect farmers, farmlands, and agro-related investments across the country.
Audi was appointed Commandant General in February 2021 by former President Muhammadu Buhari and retired after reaching the mandatory age of 60. His successor has not yet been appointed.
