Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, marked this year’s International Children’s Day with a heartfelt message to young Nigerians, describing them as “true representatives of the promise of Nigeria’s future.”
Her statement came as part of activities celebrating the global May 27 event. This year’s theme, “Stand Up: Building a Bullying-Free Generation,” took center stage in her message, where she urged Nigerians to protect and uplift children across all platforms.
“As we mark this year’s Children’s Day, I extend my warmest wishes and love to every child across our great nation whose minds represent the promise of Nigeria’s future,” she stated.

She reflected on the dangers of bullying, stressing that it doesn’t just happen in classrooms it shows up in neighborhoods and online spaces, leaving marks that often don’t fade. These scars, she noted, affect a child’s confidence, relationships, and academic progress.
The First Lady reminded the nation that safety isn’t a privilege — it’s a right. Every child should grow up in peace, surrounded by care and free from harm.
“As a mother, I call on all Nigerians to take an active stand against bullying. Let us teach our children that strength lies in compassion, and that true leadership begins with looking out for one another. Happy Children’s Day,” Tinubu stated.
