The Miss Nigeria Organisation has apologised to veteran Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade‑Ekeinde after an uninvited presenter caused an awkward moment during a private pageant event.
The incident occurred at the 46th Miss Nigeria Patrons & Board Dinner in Lagos, an invitation-only gathering for distinguished guests.
A video that went viral showed a young presenter approaching Omotola on the red carpet and asking her to introduce herself.
Caught off guard, she responded by questioning the presenter’s preparedness before moving to a seated interview to continue the interaction.
In a statement released on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the organization clarified that the presenter was not accredited or officially invited to the dinner.

It described the incident as avoidable and said the widely circulated video did not capture the full context, noting that Omotola had been approached by several people at the same time, which contributed to her discomfort.
“First and foremost, we extend our sincerest apologies to Omotola for the discomfort she experienced,” the statement read.
The organization commended her long-term support of the pageant and her contributions to Nigeria’s creative industry, stressing that such a respected figure deserved courtesy and professionalism.
The Miss Nigeria Organization also condemned attempts by uninvited individuals to engage guests and reminded media and attendees to adhere to event protocols to prevent similar incidents.
Omotola, born on February 7, 1978, has been a leading figure in Nollywood for over three decades, featuring in more than 300 films. She is widely recognised for her impact on the industry and her philanthropic work.
The apology highlights the need for respect and professionalism at high-profile events, particularly when senior entertainers and public figures are involved.
