Mohbad Case Twist: Nurse to Stand Trial as Court Clears Naira Marley, Sam Larry, PrimeBoy

In a dramatic turn of events, the Lagos State Magistrate Court in Sabo, Yaba, has officially cleared Nigerian singer Abdulazeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, along with music promoter Samson Balogun Eletu (Sam Larry) and Owodunni Ibrahim (Primeboy), of any involvement in the controversial death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.

Delivering the ruling on the 25th of February, 2025, Magistrate Ejiro Kubenje referenced legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP), which found no grounds to hold the trio accountable for the tragic passing of the talented artist.

Also exonerated was Mohbad’s former manager, Opere Babatunde.

However, the spotlight has now shifted to two new individuals—the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and his associate, Ayobami Sadiq who are set to face trial for reckless and negligent acts under Section 251 (e) of the Lagos State Criminal Law, 2015.

Mohbad’s untimely demise on the 12th of September, 2023, sent shockwaves across the nation, sparking mass protests and a relentless public demand for justice.

The former Marlian Records signee had, before his passing, voiced concerns about threats to his life, and after his death, viral footage emerged, pointing fingers at Naira Marley and Sam Larry over alleged intimidation and harassment.

Their subsequent arrests fueled speculation that justice was imminent. But with this latest ruling, the narrative has taken a new course.

The clearance of these high-profile figures while shifting blame elsewhere has reignited debates on whether justice is truly being served or if the real culprits have slipped through the cracks.

As the trial of the newly accused looms, the nation watches closely, waiting to see if the quest for truth will finally reach its conclusion or if this case is far from over.
