Mount Zion Star Oyeyemi To Be Buried Friday In Ibadan

Funeral arrangements have been announced for gospel actor and drama minister Oluwasegun Oyeyemi, with rites scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

A Service of Songs will hold at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at New Covenant Church, IMPA Estate, Palace Bus Stop, Akala Road, Akobo, followed by interment at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the Garden of Saints Cemetery, Olorunda Abaa, Akobo. Mourners  are expected to appear in white.

Oyeyemi, born June 5, 1988, died June 10, 2026, at 38. His passing was announced on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, prompting tributes from Nigeria’s gospel film community and Christian circles.

The Bowen University Alumni Association described him as a devoted Christian, drama minister and respected alumnus whose work in faith-based productions impacted many lives. It also urged prayers for his family.

He was widely known for his role as Flora’s husband in Abattoir, a popular Mount Zion Faith Ministries production. He also featured in Fiwajomi, Seyifunmi, Olukoya and Finding Grace, earning recognition within Nigeria’s Christian film space.

His death comes about 17 months after the passing of Abattoir actress Toluwalope Adegboyega-Alagbe, who died on February 4, 2025, following injuries sustained in a road crash along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on December 26, 2024. The accident also claimed the life of one of her twin daughters.
