MSOP President Says Ogoni People Backs Oil Resumption

Fegalo Nsuke, the President of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MSOP), has affirmed that there is broad consensus among his people regarding the restart of oil operations in Ogoniland.

Appearing on Arise Television this Sunday, Nsuke discussed the shifting sentiment in the region as the Federal Government intensifies efforts to re-engage stakeholders.

The push for oil exploration comes on the heels of a high-level federal delegation’s visit to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. During his interview, Nsuke emphasized that the primary concern for the Ogoni community is the guarantee of equitable returns.

“We have made it very clear that we want oil production to resume. The only issue is ensuring mutual benefits,” Nsuke stated.

Addressing the long-standing economic needs of the area, the MSOP leader noted that infrastructure and social growth are tied directly to the resources under their soil. He pointed out: “What matters most to us is the development of Ogoni land, and this cannot happen without funding.”

According to Nsuke, active conversations are already taking place to bridge the gap between government intentions and community expectations. He expressed optimism that a resolution is imminent, concluding: “That’s been discussed at the moment. So I’ll say yes, we are on course, and that’s going to happen,” he said.
