The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has announced a voluntary recall of all batches of the male enhancement dietary supplement MR.7 SUPER 700000 capsules over safety concerns.
In a notice posted on its X handle on Monday, the agency said the recall followed findings by the United States Food and Drug Administration that the product contains undeclared active ingredients — Sildenafil and Tadalafil.
NAFDAC explained that sildenafil and tadalafil are phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitors commonly used in approved medicines for the treatment of erectile dysfunction. However, their presence in the product without disclosure renders the capsules unapproved drugs whose safety and efficacy have not been established.
“MR.7 SUPER 700000 capsules are marketed online as a dietary supplement for male enhancement. Products containing sildenafil or tadalafil cannot be marketed as dietary supplements and could pose serious health risks,” the agency said.
It added that consumption of such products may dangerously interact with nitrates found in some prescription medications, including Nitroglycerin, potentially causing a life-threatening drop in blood pressure.

According to the agency, adult males with conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease who take nitrate medications are particularly at risk.
NAFDAC advised the public to immediately stop using or selling the product and return any remaining stock to the nearest NAFDAC office.
The agency also urged consumers to report suspected compromised products or adverse reactions linked to medicines and medical devices through its e-reporting platforms, the Med-Safety app, or its official email channels.
NAFDAC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health through continuous surveillance of medicines, medical devices and other regulated products circulating in the country.
