The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle during an operation in Keana Local Government Area.
The operation targeted a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Gidan Akuya village, following credible intelligence received by operatives of the State Intelligence Department.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, stated on Sunday that the suspect, identified as 43-year-old Jibril Yunusa, attempted to flee upon the arrival of operatives but was immediately pursued and apprehended.
“A search of the hideout led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one empty magazine, and one locally fabricated rifle,” Nansel said. He added that Yunusa confessed to participating in multiple kidnapping activities within the Keana and Awe axis and provided useful information to assist ongoing investigations.

The Police Commissioner, Shetima Mohammed, has directed operatives to intensify efforts to apprehend other gang members who escaped during the raid.
Nansel commended the professionalism of the operatives and assured residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s commitment to combating crime and safeguarding lives and property.
