Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central is poised to return to the National Assembly later this month after completing her six-month suspension, her lawyer confirmed.
Victor Giwa, her legal representative said that Akpoti-Uduaghan, currently on vacation in London, has prepared to resume plenary when the Senate reconvenes on September 23.
“Actually, she’s ready to resume her term. She’s in London. Everything is in place, and the six months have expired. The only thing left is her resumption,” Giwa told Punch.
He added that the Senate leadership is expected to welcome her back without hindrance.
“Even the leadership of the Senate is ready to welcome her. There is no obstacle at all,” he noted.

Giwa also stressed that legal matters will not hinder her return. “Everything will be resolved. Even the court cases will become like an academic exercise,” he said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6 over allegations of insubordination after she refused a reassignment of her plenary seat.
The suspension, following recommendations from the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, also removed her aides, office privileges, and salaries.
The senator has consistently maintained that her suspension was linked to her petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, which the Senate rejected.
She later challenged the suspension in court and secured a ruling she said supported her return.
Her previous attempt to resume duties in July ended in a standoff, with security operatives preventing her entry despite the presence of supporters outside the National Assembly.
