The National Assembly has rescheduled its plenary resumption, moving the date from Tuesday, the 24th of February, 2026, to Thursday, the 5th of March, 2026.
This change was announced in a statement released on Monday, the 23rd of February, and signed by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.
The delay aims to give committees more time to finalize ongoing budget defense discussions with various ministries, departments, and agencies.
The statement highlighted: “This is to inform Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the National Assembly that the plenary session, originally set for Tuesday, February 24, 2026, has been postponed to allow committees to conclude budget defense activities.”
Plenary will now resume in both chambers on Thursday, the 5th of March , 2026, at 11:00 a.m. All members are asked to take note of the revised schedule.

The postponement follows ongoing scrutiny of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, as committees continue to engage with government agencies to ensure a thorough budget review.
Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are set to reconvene promptly at 11:00 a.m. on the new date.
The National Assembly leadership apologized for any inconvenience caused by the change and urged members to adhere to the updated session schedule.
