NDC Shifts Obi’s Campaign Council Inauguration To October 26

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has postponed the inauguration of its National Campaign Council from October 20 to October 26, 2026, citing an overseas engagement involving its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, announced the revised date in a statement issued on Monday, October 19, saying Obi’s schedule necessitated the change.

The party apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged its members and supporters to remain committed to securing victory for Obi and other NDC candidates in the forthcoming presidential and general elections.

The postponement follows an earlier adjustment to the inauguration timetable. On October 10, NDC National Chairman Moses Cleopas announced October 20 as the planned date, explaining that consultations with Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, were required to finalise key appointments.

An earlier plan to hold the inauguration in the first week of September had also been deferred amid Obi’s travel schedule.

The party did not clarify whether other activities planned for October 20 would also be rescheduled.

The statement ended with the NDC’s slogan: “A New Nigeria is POssible!”
