The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has launched its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a statement released on Tuesday, the 21st of October, 2025, by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the initiative aims to offer financial relief to students enrolled in tertiary institutions across the country.
The agency announced that the application process will begin on Thursday, the 23rd of October, 2025, and close on Saturday, the 31st of January, 2026.
Fresh applicants are advised to complete their applications using either their admission number or JAMB registration number in place of a matriculation number.
NELFUND called on tertiary institutions to be considerate with registration and tuition payment deadlines for students awaiting loan approval and disbursement.

“Tertiary institutions are encouraged to show understanding in enforcing registration and fee payment flexibility deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.
“Institutions that have not yet commenced their 2025/2026 academic session should formally write a special notice to NELFUND with their approved academic calendar for scheduling flexibility.”
As of May 2025, NELFUND had disbursed ₦58.85 billion, supporting over 550,000 students with tuition and living expenses within a year.
