Nepal to Hold Elections in March After Parliament Dissolution

Nepal will head to the polls on March 5, 2026, following the dissolution of its parliament late Friday, the president’s office announced.

The move comes amid mounting political tension and violent anti-government demonstrations that prompted the appointment of a new interim prime minister earlier in the day.

Confirming the development, Kiran Pokharel, press advisor to the president, said: “On the recommendation of the prime minister, the parliament has been dissolved. The election date is March 5, 2026.”
