New Jersey Santa Claus Arrested Over Child Sexual Abuse Material

Authorities in New Jersey have arrested a man known for portraying Santa Claus at local holiday events after digital investigations linked him to child sexual abuse material.

The 64-year-old resident came under scrutiny on December 4, 2025, when law enforcement traced illegal files online to his home.

Police executed a search warrant the next day, December 5, seizing multiple electronic devices and taking him into custody.

The arrest was publicly announced on December 8, 2025.

He faces serious charges, including possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material, as well as endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors have requested that he remain detained while the case moves toward trial.

Officials said there is no indication that the offences occurred during public holiday appearances, but the arrest has unsettled local families who had trusted him as a seasonal figure.

Investigators noted the case highlights the critical role of online monitoring and digital tips in uncovering exploitation crimes.

Conviction could result in a lengthy prison sentence under both state and federal law.
