The Niger State Judicial Service Commission (NJSC) has dismissed four judicial officers who failed to scale through promotion examinations after several attempts.
The announcement was made in Minna during a media briefing by Adamu Usman, Chairman of the Commission’s Sub-committee on Information.
He explained that the affected officers, three from the High Court and one from the Sharia Court of Appeal, remained stagnant in their ranks after failing the exams three times. This, he said, prompted the commission to take action.
“The commission resolved and advised them to leave the service in accordance with Order 8, Rule (4)(f) of the commission’s Regulation 2025,” Usman stated.

Usman also revealed that the commission has directed a four-member panel to look into allegations of gross misconduct against one Mohammed Shaba. The officer is accused of sharing a video clip on social media that cast the Chief Judge of Niger State and the entire judiciary in bad light.
According to Usman, “The matter was reported by the Chief Registrar of the Sharia Court of Appeal. The commission deliberated on the report and, in line with Order 6(1)(c) of the Regulation 2025, set up a sub-committee to conduct further investigations. It is necessary to ensure the affected judicial staff is given fair hearing.”
