The Federal Government has called on Nigerians to unite in nation-building and support the administration of President Bola Tinubu in its reform agenda.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made the appeal at an inter-ministerial world press conference in Abuja on Monday, held as part of activities marking Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary.
Idris highlighted achievements of the Tinubu administration over the past two years, describing them as proof that the country is on the right path.
According to him, Nigeria will from January 2026 begin implementation of a new tax act aimed at simplifying tax collection and boosting government revenue. He further disclosed that oil production has steadily increased, with sectoral losses dropping to their lowest level in 16 years.

The minister also revealed that investment in deep-water exploration has surpassed $5 million, while royalties from solid minerals doubled between 2023 and 2024.
He stressed that the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of the Tinubu government is inclusive, noting that every region in the country has benefited from ongoing initiatives.
Idris assured Nigerians that the President is aware of their economic challenges but urged them to remain patient, as the policies and investments made over the last 28 months would soon yield positive results.
