Team Nigeria has lodged an official protest following the women’s 100m final, insisting that Rosemary Chukwuma deserved the gold medal rather than the silver she was awarded.
Chukwuma crossed the finish line believing she had won the race, but organisers later announced that she placed second after a tight photo finish.
According to the official results, Cameroon’s Kole Etame Herverge was declared winner with a time of 11.485 seconds, narrowly ahead of Chukwuma, who clocked 11.488 seconds.

The razor-thin margin, just 0.003 seconds, required a photo finish to determine the winner, leading to initial confusion at the end of the race.
Despite the announcement, Nigerian officials have challenged the result, maintaining that Chukwuma crossed the line first and should be recognised as the gold medallist.
The protest is expected to trigger a review of the race outcome by organisers, with attention focused on the photo finish and timing systems used to separate both athletes.
