The Nigerian Army said it has recorded notable operational gains across the country, neutralising one terrorist, arresting 23 suspects linked to terrorism and other criminal activities, and recovering weapons and ammunition in a series of intelligence-driven operations.
In a statement shared on the Nigerian Army’s Facebook page on Sunday night, the Army said the coordinated operations spanned several theatres, targeting terrorism, kidnapping, child trafficking and related crimes, as troops sustained pressure on criminal elements nationwide.
In the South-East and South-South regions, troops arrested a suspected IPOB/ESN spy in Anambra State, while two alleged child traffickers were apprehended in Orumba South Local Government Area.
In Edo State, four suspected kidnappers were arrested, with troops recovering two cutlasses and other items.
Soldiers also foiled an attempted kidnapping of a serving soldier in Okpella, Edo State, forcing the assailants to flee and rescuing the victim unhurt.
Another four suspected kidnappers were later arrested along the Afua–Ekpoma Road in the state.
Across the North-Central zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), troops arrested four suspected violent extremists in Gwagwalada Area Council, Abuja.
In Nasarawa State, two impostors dressed in military and police uniforms were apprehended, while seven suspected kidnappers were arrested in Toto and Doma local government areas.
Items recovered during the operations included a machete, a dagger and 13 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, among other exhibits.

In the North-East/Benue–Taraba axis, troops on fighting patrol in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State engaged violent extremists in a firefight, neutralising one terrorist and arresting another.
In Taraba State, troops responding to a reported kidnapping along the Wukari–Ikyior Road rescued two abducted victims after the criminals fled on sighting security forces.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across the country, urging members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
According to the Army, sustained collaboration between the military and local communities remains critical to enhancing security and maintaining public confidence in ongoing operations nationwide.
