The Nigerian Navy has opened applications for its 2026 recruitment exercise into Batch 39 of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School.
The recruitment exercise is scheduled to begin on October 2 and close on October 31, 2026, with eligible candidates expected to apply online through the Navy’s official recruitment portal.
The Navy, in its recruitment guidelines shared on Monday, stressed that the exercise is completely free and warned applicants against paying money to individuals claiming to have influence over the recruitment process.
“Online registration and other recruitment processes are free of charge and no payment should be made at any point to anyone throughout the Exercise,” the Navy stated.
The exercise is open to Nigerians by birth who have a National Identification Number and satisfy the prescribed educational, age, physical and medical conditions.
Applicants are also required to meet the stipulated minimum height of 1.69 metres for males and 1.65 metres for females. Candidates must be medically, psychologically and physically fit and must not have a criminal conviction.
For candidates applying with O’Level qualifications, the Navy said applicants must be aged between 18 and 22 as of December 31, 2026.
Such candidates must also possess at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in no more than two sittings.
The recruitment guidelines further specify different age and qualification requirements for candidates with OND and NCE certificates, tradesmen, medical professionals and sportsmen and women.

Applicants who successfully complete the online registration are expected to print their acknowledgement, parent or guardian consent, Local Government attestation and guarantor’s certification forms.
The Navy said details of the recruitment examination, including its date and venues, would be communicated to applicants at a later time.
It advised prospective applicants to consult the official recruitment portal for further details when registration opens on October 2.
The Navy also cautioned that each applicant is permitted to submit only one application, warning that multiple applications would lead to disqualification.
It further stated that candidates must be able to communicate in basic English, adding that inability to do so could result in disqualification at any stage of the exercise.
