The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum has directed warring members to return to the status quo following recent internal conflicts.
This resolution was announced by the forum’s Chairman, Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, after a meeting that extended into the early hours of Tuesday.
Addressing the situation, Mohammed acknowledged that disagreements are natural within political parties but expressed confidence in the party’s ability to resolve its challenges.
“There is no crisis. The Governors, BoT, and the National Assembly caucus have agreed that the NWC should revert to the status quo,” he said.
As part of the directive, all suspensions within the party have been nullified, meaning that suspended officers will be reinstated, and the acting national chairman will remain in place.
This development follows a ruling on Friday by a Federal High Court in Abuja, which prohibited the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) from removing Umar Damagum as the party’s Acting National Chairman.
The court’s judgement came after a period of internal strife marked by suspensions and counter-suspensions within the party.
