NNPP Approves Sons of Deceased Kano Legislators for Assembly By-Elections

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has on Sunday, December 28, 2025, approved the sons of two deceased Kano State House of Assembly members to contest the forthcoming by-elections for the Municipal and Ungogo constituencies.

Sa’ad Aminu Sa’ad has been cleared to run for the Municipal constituency seat, while Nabil Aliyu Daneji will contest the Ungogo seat.

The vacancies arose after the deaths of the sitting lawmakers on December 24, 2025.

NNPP Kano State chairman, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, said the nominations followed extensive consultations involving party leaders, the bereaved families, and stakeholders.

The discussions were led by NNPP national leader Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso at his Kano residence, where consensus was reached on the candidates.

Dungurawa emphasized that the approvals do not amount to automatic nominations.

Both aspirants will still undergo the party’s internal screening and selection processes alongside other contenders.

The party described the move as a demonstration of its commitment to internal democracy while respecting the service and legacy of the deceased legislators.

It also expressed confidence that the nominated candidates would uphold the public service standards set by their fathers if eventually elected.
