NNPP NWC Declares Kano Chairman Hashimu Dungurawa Suspension Null, Void

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has rejected the purported suspension of its Kano State Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, declaring the action null, void, undemocratic and without effect under the party’s constitution.

The NWC’s decision was issued on December 31, 2025 after the controversy emerged earlier in the week.

The dispute began when executive members of the party’s Gargari Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State suspended and removed Dungurawa on December 30, 2025, alleging he fomented divisions within the party and instigated internal conflict.

The ward’s action also led to the Kano State executive committee naming an acting chairman.

In its statement, the NNPP NWC condemned the suspension as a violation of the party constitution, affirming that only authorised party organs can discipline a state chairman.

The committee also reaffirmed Dungurawa’s position as the legitimate NNPP chairman in Kano State.

Dungurawa has maintained he remains the bona fide chairman, dismissing the ward decision as baseless and without constitutional backing.
