Nollywood actress Evan Okoro has raised serious concerns for her safety following what she described as escalating threats from her estranged husband, Chibuzo Erikife, amid the breakdown of their marriage.
In an emotional video shared online, Okoro claimed she has been living in constant fear, citing a chilling alleged remark from Erikife: “If you leave me, I will buy you.” She said she has formally reported the threats to law enforcement authorities.
Describing her marriage as deeply troubled, the actress stated, “This marriage is not working. The shoe I took home is not my size.” She added that Erikife’s family did not pay her bride price, prompting her relatives to demand that traditional marriage rites be properly observed.
According to Okoro, Erikife became increasingly controlling and aggressive, particularly regarding her finances. She alleged that he attempted to seize earnings she made from a recent business trip to Lagos. “He wanted the money, and when I refused, he got angry,” she said, noting that he has not checked on her since the trip, which was over two weeks ago.
Further detailing her marital ordeal, Okoro accused her husband of emotional neglect and lack of intimacy, revealing that her appeals to his family yielded no change in his behavior.

She also claimed Erikife harbored jealousy over her personal achievements, especially after she posted a house she built on social media. “People are saying he wants to kidnap me because I posted the house,” she said. “I built that house myself before he came into my life.”
Okoro expressed deep anxiety over her safety, citing disturbing dreams and rumors of potential harm. Despite these fears, she made it clear that she is not seeking financial assistance but simply desires peace and freedom. “If I keep living like this, I will go down six feet,” she warned.
As of the time of this report, Erikife has not publicly responded to the allegations
