The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory Command, has warned private guard companies operating without valid licences or using fake documentation that they will face stiff sanctions as enforcement operations intensify across Abuja.
FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, issued the warning during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday, stressing that all private security firms are expected to comply fully with the laws regulating their operations.
According to him, no private guard company is permitted to operate with forged documents, expired licences or without the necessary authorisation, adding that offenders risk having their offices sealed and facing other legal penalties.
Odumosu disclosed that the command has already commenced surveillance and monitoring of private security firms in different parts of the Federal Capital Territory to identify operators violating regulatory requirements.
He said the names of defaulting companies were currently being compiled, noting that the command would soon begin full-scale enforcement against firms found operating illegally.
“Any private guard company that has failed to renew its licence or is operating without proper authorisation should expect enforcement action very soon,” he warned.

The commandant noted that beyond its regulatory responsibilities, the NSCDC has maintained a productive partnership with licensed private guard companies, describing them as valuable partners in intelligence gathering.
He explained that private security personnel are strategically positioned within communities and frequently provide credible information on suspected cases of vandalism and other criminal activities.
According to him, the Corps acts promptly on such intelligence to prevent crimes and ensure that offenders are brought to justice.
Odumosu commended the cooperation of law-abiding private guard companies, saying the collaboration has strengthened security efforts across the FCT and contributed significantly to crime prevention.
He urged all private security operators yet to regularise their operational licences to do so immediately to avoid sanctions as the command moves to enforce compliance with existing regulations.
