Students of the College of Nursing at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi staged a protest on Tuesday over what they described as a steep increase in tuition fees.
The aggrieved students took to the streets within the institution’s premises, chanting solidarity songs and displaying placards to register their displeasure with the fee adjustment.
In a video that circulated widely on social media, the protesters were seen marching in groups while chanting, “We no go gree, reduce the school fees, we no go gree,” as they demanded an immediate reversal of the new charges.
The College of Nursing is affiliated with Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, a major tertiary healthcare institution located in Nnewi, Anambra State.

Students involved in the protest insisted that the sharp increase in tuition had placed a heavy financial burden on many of them and their families, urging the school management to reconsider the decision.
As of the time of filing this report, the management of the institution had yet to issue an official statement addressing the students’ concerns.
The protest adds to a growing wave of student reactions across tertiary institutions in Nigeria over rising education costs and calls for more affordable tuition policies.
