Nwabali Returns To Chippa United Ahead Of New Season

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has completed a return to South African side Chippa United ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, ending a five-month spell away from the club.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper had left the Chilli Boys in February 2026 and remained without competitive club football for several months, a situation that affected his place in Nigeria’s senior national team.

Chippa United confirmed Nwabali’s return on Sunday through a statement shared on the club’s official social media platforms.

The club expressed delight at welcoming the Nigerian international back, describing his return to the Eastern Cape as a positive development after his time away from the team.

Nwabali first joined Chippa United in 2022 and established himself as one of the club’s key players before earning widespread recognition for his outstanding displays with the Super Eagles at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where Nigeria finished as runners-up.

His prolonged absence from club football in recent months saw him fall out of contention for regular selection with the national team.

The goalkeeper will now be aiming to rebuild his form through consistent first-team appearances at Chippa United as he looks to force his way back into the Super Eagles squad ahead of future international assignments.
