Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has called for deeper collaboration between Nigeria and Switzerland to accelerate national development, with a focus on education, healthcare and poverty reduction.
Obi made the call on Wednesday on his Facebook page, after meeting with the Swiss Ambassador to Nigeria, Patrick Egloff, describing their discussions as productive and centred on Nigeria’s development priorities.
According to the former Anambra State governor, the meeting focused on key sectors critical to the country’s progress, including improving access to quality education, strengthening healthcare services and implementing measures to lift more Nigerians out of poverty.

He also commended the Swiss Confederation for its continued support to Nigeria, acknowledging its contributions to economic development, cultural exchange, humanitarian interventions and peace-building efforts, particularly in the North-East.
Obi stressed that stronger international partnerships anchored on shared values and a commitment to human development would be vital in driving inclusive growth and building a more prosperous nation.
He reiterated his belief that with sustained collaboration and the right development priorities, Nigeria can achieve meaningful progress, declaring that “A New Nigeria is Possible.”
