Governor Ahmed Ododo of Kogi State has vowed to eliminate criminal activities threatening peace and development in parts of the state.
The governor made the pledge on Monday during a visit to Isanlu-Esa in Yagba West Local Government Area, following recent cases of kidnapping and killings along Okunran, Okoloke, and Isanlu-Esa communities that have heightened tension in the area.
Ododo, who was received by the Commander of the Nigerian Army overseeing the operation, Brig. Gen. K. U. Sidi, commended the combined efforts of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Department of State Services, and special forces in combating insecurity.
“Let me thank you, the security operatives, for your efforts in ensuring adequate security in this area. Your synergy has made your assignment easier, and I am always ready to provide all necessary support to triumph over criminality,” Ododo said.
He assured residents that his administration would not relent until peace and safety are fully restored. “I was elected to protect lives and property, and we will not relent until Kogi is safe,” he added.
The governor also paid tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, promising that their sacrifices would not be in vain.

Ododo cautioned traditional rulers against indiscriminate allocation of land to unknown individuals and directed that all holders of mining licences in the state be properly profiled by the government and security agencies to prevent security breaches.
He reaffirmed the support of President Bola Tinubu in maintaining peace and security across Kogi and the country, while commending the National Security Adviser and the security chiefs for implementing the President’s policies toward a safer Nigeria.
In his remarks, Brig. Gen. Sidi commended Governor Ododo for his consistent support to security agencies, noting that the provision of logistics and assistance had boosted their operations. He also acknowledged the contribution of the Hybrid Force from the Office of the National Security Adviser to ongoing operations in Yagba West.
The traditional ruler of Isanlu-Esa, Oba Olufemi Theophilus, thanked the governor for visiting the community, describing it as a demonstration of responsive and people-oriented leadership. He urged the government to sustain security presence in the area and called on the Federal Government to repair the road leading to the community to enhance safety and mobility.
