A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Emmanuel Ogidi, has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) helped position Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to weaken the opposition, arguing, however, that the minister will eventually turn his political firepower against the APC.
Ogidi made the claim on Wednesday, January 7, while speaking on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief.
“How can you reconcile with people? How can you reconcile with the man who wants to bring down your house? Now look at APC—APC, after all the shouting now. But they were the ones who empowered him to try and destroy the PDP.
“So he did something. He’s going to give them their own. So you see, when you have a member of your family who is running wild, you just put him aside,” Ogidi said.
Wike worked against the PDP in the 2023 presidential election, backing the APC.

The former Rivers State governor had defended his stance by pointing to what he described as a breach of party rules in the process that produced Atiku Abubakar as the PDP’s flagbearer.
He later took up an appointment in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, but has recently been drawn into a public clash with the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, over Rivers politics and the ruling party’s internal affairs.
“For the avoidance of doubt, our records indicate that Minister Nyesom Wike is not a member of our Party (APC), so he lacks the locus to dabble into the [affairs of] our party,” he stated.
Wike responded by warning Basiru to steer clear of Rivers State.
“Tell your national secretary to leave Rivers alone. Go and ask those who have tried it before, and don’t take our support for Mr President for granted. “You have to be careful of the statement you made,” Wike said.
