Ogun Govt Shuts Filling Station, Shops for Environmental Pollution

The Ogun State government has taken enforcement action against environmental violations by sealing off a filling station and some shops.

This was made known in Abeokuta on Friday, the 26th of September, 2025, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA, Farouk Akintunde, during a media briefing.

Akintunde, who also heads the Ogun State Task Force on Environmental Compliance and Enforcement, explained that the action was in response to a petition from the Magboro Community Development Committee (CDC) in Obafemi Owode Local Government.

According to him, the petition accused the filling station and other business operators on Magboro Road of refusing to cooperate with the community in desilting drainage channels.

He stressed that in Ogun State, every Thursday has been set aside for markets and business operators to observe sanitation. “This must be strictly adhered to,” he said.

In separate comments, the Treasurer of Magboro Area CDC, Mr. Mojeed Makonjuola, and a resident, Mr. Olawale Ayeni, commended the state government for acting on their petition.
