The Ogun State Government has reiterated its firm stance against Gender-Based Violence (GBV), child abuse, and every form of exploitation, stressing that offenders will face tougher sanctions through enhanced enforcement, coordinated legal action, and strict accountability measures.
At the same time, the state restated its resolve to promote and reward excellence within the public service, describing it as a key driver of social progress, institutional credibility, and long-term governance sustainability.
This renewed policy thrust was announced by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, during the 3-in-1 New Year Programme held in Abeokuta on Friday, the 30th of January, 2026.
According to Adeleye, the programme was intentionally structured to combine policy review, skills development, and recognition of achievements.
She explained that the gathering was aimed at bringing stakeholders together, strengthening institutional direction, and clearly defining the government’s priorities for the year, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, child welfare, and inclusive social advancement.
Reviewing the Ministry’s performance over the previous year, the Commissioner linked its increasing effectiveness to focused leadership, firm political backing, and a well-defined reform strategy.
She commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for creating a supportive policy framework that promotes social inclusion, protects vulnerable groups, and enhances institutional efficiency across the state. Adeleye noted that the Governor’s leadership has successfully transformed policy vision into tangible benefits for women, children, and other at-risk populations.
Looking ahead, she stated that the Ministry’s roadmap for 2026 is built on measurable outcomes, people-focused service delivery, and strengthened collaboration among relevant agencies.
“With the full support of security agencies, justice-sector institutions, and credible whistleblowers, the year 2026 will be extremely tough for perpetrators of Gender-Based Violence, child abuse, and all forms of exploitation.

“We will enforce the law without fear or favour, protect survivors decisively, and ensure that every offender is exposed and prosecuted,” Adeleye declared.

Adeleye noted that their contributions extend beyond funding to include technical support, policy development, institutional capacity building, and international training opportunities for Ministry personnel.
As part of the programme, outstanding staff members were recognised for exceptional service, innovation, discipline, and commitment to the Ministry’s mandate.
