Ogun State’s Gateway International Airport (GWI) will officially commence commercial flight operations on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, following approval by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
According to the state government, the maiden operations will be handled by Value Jet Airline, which has scheduled two weekly flights between the airport and Abuja.
The services will operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with departures from Ogun at 8:30 a.m. and arrivals in Abuja at 9:45 a.m. Return flights will leave Abuja at 4:00 p.m. and land in Ogun at 5:15 p.m.
Ticket sales are expected to begin on Thursday, September 25, 2025, through Value Jet’s official website, accredited travel agents and ticket counters at the new airport.
Located along the Ilisan–Iperu–Remo corridor, Gateway International Airport is projected to ease air travel for passengers within Ogun State and its environs, including parts of Lagos, Oyo and Ondo.
Officials say the facility will provide faster connectivity for business travelers and residents of the South-West.

The project, first initiated over a decade ago, gained momentum under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, who has described the airport as a critical infrastructure for regional development.
Aviation analysts note that the facility could also support cargo handling in the future, boosting trade and investment in the state.
The launch of operations at GWI marks a significant milestone for Ogun, which will now join the list of Nigerian states with functional international-standard airports.
