Clash on Tuesday (today) morning between two factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Akure, Ondo State capital resulted in the death of one person.
The dead person, a man whose is yet to be identified, was killed following the clash that occurred around Benin/Ado garage along Ilesha/Owo expressway.
Several other persons were also injured and many vehicles damaged as the result of the clash, FirstNews gathered.
Eyewitnesses report said NURTW factions attacked themselves with guns and other dangerous weapons.
The incident paralysed social and economic activities in the area.
This came merely 48 hours after the faction of the union fought in the Owode area of the State, resulting in many people being injured.
As a result of the clash, the state government on Monday suspended the activities of the NURTW and the Road Transport Employers of Nigeria in the state.
According to Doyin Odebowale, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, said that the suspension was to allow the unions to meet and settle their differences in order to prevent violent clashes between them.
