One Injured as Explosion Rocks FCT, Police Begins Probe

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed that one person was injured following an explosion near the Mararaba-Nyanya Bypass on Monday afternoon.

The incident, which occurred at about 2:50 p.m. on May 26, 2025, prompted a swift response from officers of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, according to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh.

“The affected area was swiftly cordoned off for clearance and forensic analysis to ensure the safety of commuters and residents,” the statement said.

The male victim was rescued at the scene and taken to a hospital where he is currently receiving treatment.

Police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause and nature of the explosion.

Reassuring residents, the FCT Command urged calm and noted that there was no cause for panic. It also called on the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious persons or objects.
