OPay Lists On NYSE, Secures $304m In IPO

Nigerian-founded fintech company OPay Limited has raised $304 million through its initial public offering (IPO) on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), pricing its American depositary shares (ADSs) at $19 each.

The company offered 16 million ADSs at the lower end of its proposed $19 to $21 price range, securing an estimated valuation of $4 billion. Trading commenced on Friday, October 30, 2026, under the ticker symbol OPAY, following regulatory clearance of its registration statement on October 29.

Underwriters have a 30-day option to purchase an additional 2.4 million ADSs to cover excess demand. The offering is expected to close on November 2, subject to customary conditions.

Founded in Nigeria in 2018, OPay provides digital payments, money transfers, savings, credit and merchant services across Nigeria, Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia.

Its IPO prospectus put monthly active users at approximately 50.1 million as of July 31, 2026, reflecting its growing presence in emerging markets.

The listing follows a $400 million funding round in 2021 that valued the company at approximately $2 billion. SoftBank Vision Fund 2 led the investment, while SoftBank-affiliated entities held a combined 6.6 per cent stake in OPay before the IPO.

OPay is also pursuing plans for a secondary listing on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), following approval by its board and shareholders. The proposed listing remains subject to regulatory requirements and market conditions.

The company has indicated that arrangements would be necessary to facilitate the transfer of shares between the Nigerian market and its US-listed ADSs.

The NYSE debut marks a significant step in OPay’s expansion, giving the fintech company access to international capital markets and a broader pool of investors.
