The founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has disclosed that the church operates a free rehabilitation programme for repentant criminals as part of efforts to reduce crime and promote social reintegration.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Wednesday, the cleric explained that the initiative targets individuals involved in crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism, offering them a pathway to reform and reintegration into society.
According to him, the programme is entirely funded through tithes and offerings from church members and has been sustained for more than 15 years.
Chinyere said individuals rescued from criminal camps are first disarmed, with recovered weapons handed over to law enforcement authorities, before undergoing a structured rehabilitation process.
“When I rescue them from camp, they surrender their guns, which I hand over to the police. They undergo spiritual and physical rehabilitation,” he stated.

He added that participants are baptised and formally documented by the police as part of the reintegration process, ensuring accountability and proper monitoring.
Beyond spiritual guidance, the programme also focuses on equipping beneficiaries with practical skills to support their transition into lawful livelihoods.
According to the cleric, trainees receive instruction in areas such as furniture making, welding, electrical works, tailoring, ICT, and oil and gas-related skills.
Chinyere noted that the initiative has contributed to reducing crime by transforming former offenders into productive members of society.
“Many of these misled youths are no longer into crimes, but are now doing legal things,” he said.
The development comes amid increased public attention on the pastor’s humanitarian activities, including recent efforts to support vulnerable individuals through social welfare initiatives and arranged marriages aimed at providing long-term care and stability.
