Tragedy has struck in Bayelsa State following the death of a medical doctor, Ere Siana Sintei Ogbachi, shortly after she delivered a set of triplets.
Dr. Ogbachi, an obstetrician and gynecologist, gave birth at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital in Okolobiri, Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Her death was confirmed by her brother, Meshack Sintei, in a Facebook post on Wednesday, April 15. According to him, she developed complications soon after the successful delivery and was urgently transferred to the Federal Medical Centre Yenagoa for advanced medical care.
He disclosed that despite the efforts of a team of specialists who battled to save her life in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), she died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
Meshack recounted the painful final moments, noting that doctors fought tirelessly as her condition deteriorated. He said medical equipment monitoring her vital signs showed a steady decline, signaling the eventual loss.

Describing the incident as devastating, he said the family watched helplessly as she struggled to survive.
Until her death, Dr. Ogbachi was a registrar at NDUTH, a member of the Nigerian Medical Association, and an alumna of the Niger Delta University. She is survived by her newborn triplets, her spouse, and other family members.
Her passing has left colleagues, family, and the wider medical community in mourning, as tributes continue to pour in for the late doctor, described as dedicated and resilient in both her profession and personal life.
