Osimhen Nominated for 2025 CAF Player of the Year Award

Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has been shortlisted for the 2025 CAF Player of the Year award following an outstanding season of prolific form.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) unveiled the nominees’ list on Wednesday, featuring some of the continent’s brightest stars who have excelled for club and country over the past year.

Osimhen earned the nomination after a remarkable campaign that saw him score 37 goals and provide 7 assists in 41 matches across all competitions.

The Nigerian forward, who now plies his trade with Turkish giants Galatasaray, has continued to demonstrate his consistency and clinical finishing, helping his club to a dominant season both domestically and in Europe.

Osimhen, who won the CAF Player of the Year award in 2023, will be looking to retain the prestigious title and further cement his reputation as one of Africa’s most feared strikers.

He is expected to face stiff competition from other African stars, including Egypt’s Mohamed Salah, Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi, and Senegal’s Sadio Mané.

The winners of the 2025 CAF Awards will be announced at a gala ceremony scheduled to hold later this year.
