Osimhen Out of South Africa Clash, Injury Confirmed as Minor – NFF

Nigeria will be without star striker Victor Osimhen when they travel to face South Africa in Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed.

According to the team doctor, Osimhen sustained a bone bruise after a collision with a Rwandan defender midway through the first half of Saturday’s qualifier in Uyo, which Nigeria won 1-0.

The Galatasaray forward woke up on Sunday with discomfort on his chin.

While the injury is not as serious as initially feared, the medical team has advised that he sits out the trip to aid recovery.

“Victor Osimhen has been diagnosed with a bone bruise and will not be traveling with the squad to South Africa. He is expected to return after proper rest and treatment,” the NFF stated.

The absence of the Super Eagles talisman is a major setback as Nigeria prepares for a crucial encounter against South Africa.
