Ahead of the August 8 governorship election in Osun State, National and State Assembly members elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party for a second term.
The endorsement, made at a stakeholders’ meeting in Osogbo on Saturday night, February 14, was announced in a communiqué read by Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi.
Adeleke, who defected from the PDP to the Accord Party on December 9, 2025, was praised for his performance in infrastructure development, workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, and democratic stability.
The lawmakers said their support for Adeleke does not weaken the PDP’s structure or grassroots presence.

They passed a vote of confidence in PDP State Chairman Sunday Bisi, the State Working Committee, and party leadership in all 30 local governments and 332 wards, warning that any alternative leadership lacks legitimacy.
The communiqué also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the state’s local government crisis, citing hardship caused by the continued withholding of allocations from teachers, healthcare workers, civil servants, retirees, and traditional institutions.
Residents were urged to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to defending democracy. Separately, five PDP members of the National Assembly in Osun officially defected to the All Progressives Congress on Saturday.
