Osun APC Gov Candidate Awards N1m To LAUTECH Best Graduating Student

The campaign team of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji has announced a cash reward of N1 million for the top graduating student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Oladepo Caleb Olugbenga.

The announcement was made on Friday in Osogbo through a statement issued by the Chairman of the Media Committee of the Ambo Campaign Organisation, Remi Omowaiye.

He explained that the donation was meant to recognise Oladepo’s academic excellence and perseverance.

Oladepo, who hails from Ijimoba, a farming community in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, emerged as the overall best graduating student during the institution’s 18th convocation. He finished with an outstanding cumulative grade point average of 4.89 out of 5.0.

Omowaiye, who also serves as Executive Director, Project Implementation, at the Federal Housing Authority, noted that Oyebamiji was delighted by the graduate’s achievement.

He added that Oladepo’s acknowledgement of support from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund demonstrated the potential of young Nigerians when given the right opportunities.

“The Ambo Campaign Organisation commends Oladepo for coming out in flying colours, despite having to struggle with a lot of distractions.

“The APC candidate in the August 15 Osun State governorship poll, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has received the report of the feat achieved by Oladepo.

He commended him and expressed readiness to always support youths in the state to excel in every noble area that attracts their interest, regardless of the cost attached to it.

“On behalf of the campaign organisation, we are making a donation of N1m to Oladepo. We are also assuring youths in the state of our resolve to always provide the needed assistance for them to excel.

We also commend Oladepo for coming out to state how the availability of NELFUND assisted him in financing his studies.

That alone is a validation of the tremendous impact the initiative introduced by the administration of President Bola Tinubu is having on Nigeria’s educational system.”

Oladepo, a graduate of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, was raised in a rural part of Osun State where his family lived without electricity for nine years.

Despite these conditions, he emerged as the best graduating engineering student with the same CGPA of 4.89.

He recounted growing up in a household without a television, relying instead on lanterns and candles, while his family struggled daily to meet basic needs such as food, clothing and school fees.

Due to financial constraints, he attended public schools throughout his early education and often walked long distances to school as his parents worked multiple jobs to support the family.

On January 14, the university officially recognised him as the top graduating engineering student for the 2024/2025 academic session.

Speaking on Thursday, Oladepo credited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund for playing a key role in his academic journey. In a post on X, he wrote, “I’m honoured to let you know that I am the Best Graduating Student of LAUTECH. Your loans made it possible.”

His post quickly gained traction online, drawing praise from many who applauded both his academic success and his public recognition of the student loan initiative.
