The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDPGF) has called on President Bola Tinubu to urgently address the escalating political crisis in Osun State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, February 20, in Abuja, the forum’s chairman, Governor Bala Mohammed, expressed deep concern over the violence that has resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property.
He urged Tinubu to direct law enforcement agencies to restore order before the situation worsens.
Mohammed also called on the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Inspector-General of Police, and other security heads to act swiftly.
“The concern of the PDP-GF stems from the fact that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun had warned about the imminent breakdown of law and order and appealed to the responsible authorities to act to forestall this,” he said.
Condemning what he described as political actors resorting to self-help, Mohammed stressed that disputes should be resolved within the framework of the law, not through violence.
“The forum further notes, with deep worry, the resort to violence as a means of settling political and legal disputes and warns all those fanning the embers of discord to desist forthwith,” he stated.
He commended Adeleke for issuing early warnings before the crisis erupted, describing it as a mark of exemplary leadership.

Urging stakeholders to uphold the rule of law, Mohammed emphasised that political leadership should prioritise service to the people, not violence.
“In this regard, the PDPGF further avers that with regard to the protection of lives and property, there are no partisan divides or ideological divisions.
“Every political leader should be serving the people and working towards their safety, protection, and welfare,” he said.
He concluded by calling for the swift identification and prosecution of those responsible for the violence, stressing the need for a full restoration of peace in Osun.
