Our Doors Are Still Open For Kwankwaso — APC Chairman

The All Progressives Congress has said it remains willing to accommodate Rabi’u Kwankwaso, the former presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, if he decides to join the ruling party.

The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, stated this during an interview on Trust TV on Sunday, February 1, amid ongoing political shifts in Kano State that have continued to draw national attention.

His comments followed the recent defection of Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, who moved from the NNPP to the APC alongside members of the Kano State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives.

Yilwatda clarified that there are no ongoing negotiations between the APC and the former Kano governor.

However, he stressed that the party would readily welcome Kwankwaso if he chose to make the move.

“Our doors are still open for Kwankwaso to join the APC. If he comes, he’s most welcome. Though we are not yet in negotiation with him,” Yilwatda said.

During the interview, the APC chairman also addressed criticisms surrounding President Bola Tinubu’s frequent international travels.

He argued that the President’s long-standing experience and global exposure allow him to achieve results more quickly than many others could.

“Because of his experience, exposure and connections, what he can connect in one day will take most of us years to gain and achieve,” he said.

Yilwatda described Tinubu’s trips as deliberate efforts made in the national interest, noting that they are aimed at attracting foreign investment, strengthening security cooperation and advancing bilateral agreements.

“For this man to sacrifice for this country, to move around, attract investment, work on security and negotiate bilateral agreements, should we take that for granted?” he asked.
