The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, says the party is actively working behind the scenes to resolve the impeachment moves against Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Prof Yilwatda made this known on Sunday, February 1, while speaking during an interview on Trust TV.
Rivers State has in recent weeks been engulfed in political tension, following moves by members of the State House of Assembly to commence impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu.
Responding to the situation, the APC chairman said the party had already stepped in to address the issue internally, describing the impeachment push as a party matter currently under discussion.
“Are you hearing anything about the impeachment of Rivers State Governor Fubara again? We are discussing this with the lawmakers because that is an internal party issue,” Prof Yilwatda said.

He explained that the APC has internal mechanisms designed to resolve disputes and restore stability whenever disagreements arise within the party.
“That is why the APC is different from any other party. We have a lot of mechanisms for resolving our internal issues.
“We have a lot of mechanisms that we have put in place that can resolve and self heal the party when we have injuries, and that’s what we’re doing in Rivers,” he said.
Prof Yilwatda added that the party’s intervention is aimed at calming the political climate in the state and strengthening its electoral prospects.
“We’re self healing the process in Rivers. We’re ensuring that we stabilize Rivers State and we maximize opportunities in Rivers State so that we can win and win overwhelmingly in the state,” he said.
