Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have neutralised more than 80 terrorists after successfully repelling a coordinated overnight attack on a military base in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
The assault, which targeted the 68 Battalion in Sector 3 under the Joint Task Force (North East), occurred in the early hours of Wednesday. According to an operational report made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the insurgents launched a five-pronged offensive, advancing in large numbers on foot while also deploying armed drones.
The attackers reportedly attempted to break through defensive positions, focusing their advance along the Bravo Company frontage from the Duguri axis.
However, troops, acting on prior intelligence, were well-prepared for the assault and mounted a coordinated defence. A fierce gun battle ensued, during which the soldiers held their ground and inflicted heavy casualties on the insurgents.

Military authorities said the troops’ resilience, combined with effective intelligence and tactical superiority, ultimately forced the attackers to retreat after suffering significant losses.
The latest operation is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian military to degrade insurgent capabilities and restore stability across the North-East region.
