The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a Christmas message, calling on Nigerians to foster unity and love amidst challenging times.
Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, emphasized the significance of using the festive season to strengthen the bonds of compassion and togetherness.
In the statement released on Sunday in Abuja, Ologunagba urged Nigerians to maintain their caring nature despite the prevailing hardships. He expressed heartfelt concerns for those unable to reunite with their families due to economic challenges and the high cost of living, notably influenced by the soaring petrol prices.
The PDP spokesperson called on the National Assembly to align with the people’s interests by trimming provisions for luxury items in the 2024 budget. Instead, he advocated for channeling those funds into sectors directly impacting the well-being of Nigerians.
“The PDP encourages Nigerians not to succumb to despondency but to use the occasion and essence of Christmas to offer prayers and renew their hope and trust in the divine intervention of God in the affairs of our nation,” Ologunagba emphasized.
Despite the prevailing challenges, the PDP extended warm wishes to Nigerians, expressing, “In spite of these challenges, the PDP felicitates with Nigerians and wishes them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ahead.”
The party’s Christmas message aligns with a call for national unity and a focus on the welfare of citizens during this festive season.
