The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed deep sorrow over the recent kidnapping of school children at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Niger State, describing the incident as “a sad development and unfortunate.”
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party made the statement on Thursday, November 27, during a high-level sympathy visit to the state, led by National Chairman Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.
Other members of the NWC accompanied him to the Government House in Minna, where they were received by Niger State Governor Mohammed Umar Bago.
During the visit, the PDP delegation conveyed its anguish over the rising insecurity in Niger State and across the country, particularly the traumatic abduction of innocent children.

“As a party that believes in the sanctity of life and the right of every Nigerian child to education without fear, the Party strongly condemns the attack and all acts of terror against Nigerians,” the PDP stated.
The National Chairman commended Governor Bago for his swift response and his collaboration with security agencies to secure the release of the abducted pupils and restore peace to affected communities.
Turaki also assured the governor and the people of Niger State of the party’s prayers, sympathy, and support during this difficult period.
He emphasised that the PDP remains committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation.
“The party stands with the victims, their families, and all citizens affected by insecurity, and we urge continued vigilance and coordinated efforts to prevent such tragic incidents in the future,” the PDP added.
