The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has strongly rejected criticism from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over its recent meeting in Zamfara State, insisting the gathering prioritised national security and policy discussions over political theatrics.
Reacting to ADC’s claim that convening a meeting shortly after deadly attacks in Zamfara was insensitive, PDP Governors’ Forum Director General Emmanuel Agbo said on Monday, August 25, that the forum “extensively deliberated on the state of the nation, the security situation, and other critical issues of national interest.”
He emphasised that the gathering was pre-scheduled and not a spur-of-the-moment event.
Agbo described the ADC’s statement as “irresponsible” and accused the party of attempting to politicise human lives.
“Playing politics and trying to gain political capital with human lives isn’t our stock in trade as is characteristic of the ADC,” he added, stressing that the PDP’s approach focuses on solutions and constructive dialogue.
The forum highlighted that its communique addressed security challenges across the country.

“The forum particularly commends initiatives by the government of Zamfara State in significantly curbing insecurity within the state; but condemns the continued monstrous killings in Katsina, Plateau, Niger, and Benue States, and calls on the federal government to be more responsive to the lives and properties of the citizenry,” the statement read.
Agbo also argued that the ADC had failed to appreciate the severity of national security concerns.
“Since their exit, the PDP has become much more formidable and focused with clear determination to have our eyes on the ball.
“The ADC, with their inordinate sense of entitlement, constituted a huge clog to national unity and harmony,” he said.
The forum further extended a gesture of reconciliation, stating that former members of the party who joined the ADC remain welcome to return if they genuinely seek to act responsibly.
Concluding, the PDP stressed that national security remains a top priority and reaffirmed its commitment to working collaboratively with governments at all levels to address insecurity and protect lives across Nigeria.
