Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has announced the postponement of the inaugural National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of his administration to Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
The decision follows heightened tension at the party secretariat in Abuja after social media reports claimed that a purported National Executive Committee (NEC) and Board of Trustees (BOT) meeting was being convened by individuals outside the party.
Turaki said he alerted the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, about the circulating reports.

He commended the police for honoring their commitment to protect the party and ensuring members were able to access the secretariat.
Citing disruptions he described as instigated by “enemies of progress and democracy,” Turaki explained that the NWC meeting was postponed to allow for a secure and orderly gathering.
Since assuming office earlier this month, Turaki’s leadership has emphasized internal reforms and consolidation of party structures in preparation for the 2027 general elections.
Analysts note that the postponement underscores the challenges political parties face in ensuring secure and smooth operations in Abuja.
