The newly inaugurated Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to explain the $250 million agreement recently signed with the European African Chamber of Commerce and Industries (EuroAfrica CCI).
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 28, the party’s Publicity Secretary, Daniel Osa-Ogbegie, said the claim surrounding the deal “has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people at the moment.”
The Edo State Government had earlier announced that the governor signed the agreement on September 25 during the 2025 Edo State Global Investment Summit in Glasgow, Scotland.
According to a statement from the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the deal provides “a framework for strategic investment in Edo State for a period of three to five years.”
The PDP, however, insisted that the public deserved more details. Osa-Ogbegie stated, “We will demand clarity on the Governor’s claim of a $250 million investment from Glasgow that has become a source of embarrassment to Edo people at the moment.

“We will question the abandonment of projects initiated under the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki, and we will shine light on fiscal management practices that appear to ignore transparency and responsibility.”
He added that the party would respect constituted authority but would not shy away from its duty to hold the All Progressives Congress-led government accountable.
“Also, our allegiance remains first and foremost to the people of Edo State. Where government policies uplift the people, we shall lend our support; but where governance falters into oppression, waste, or deception, we shall stand firmly with the people,” the statement noted.
Osa-Ogbegie also addressed officials of the ruling party, saying, “Gentlemen, the road ahead will be robust. I am prepared for it. I trust you will be too.”
The PDP said its new executive committee was inaugurated on Saturday to replace the caretaker leadership.
